Yesterday, I cried! Not like boo hoo tears, but a soft, joyous, deep down in my soul, meditative cry. I watched the pint-sized wonder, Gabrielle Douglas give absolute LIFE to every single rotation she competed in during the 2012 Summer Olympic Games and it just did something to me. Then the camera panned to her mom, who was in tears and I just lost it.
Gabby was phenomenal, sassy and fun. And more importantly, she was living out HER dream, at 16!!! This is the dream she chose, she committed to and sacrificed for. To witness the manifestation of this was soul-stirring!
Gabby “Brought Home The Gold“, and was given the title of “America’s Sweetheart.” Very fitting, don’t you think?
And that smile…oh my, you can’t do anything but feel the joy that radiates from her. She is beautiful inside and out and such an inspiration to young women everywhere! Gabby Douglas, we LOVE you! And now we know that G stands for Gabby, Gold and Greatness!
I wonder if she knows that the letters of her last name spell out USA GOLD, when rearranged. Umm, can you say destiny?
We’ve all heard about the hard work and sacrifices that she and her family made to get to Olympic status but beneath the bright lights, the pressure, the Gold Medal, there is a 16-year-old little girl and I wanted to find out more about her. Read below for 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Gabby Douglas.
